CSO on Major Talent Drive
CSO Launches Major Recruitment Drive Ahead of Census 2027
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) is currently undertaking a significant recruitment campaign as preparations intensify for Census 2027, creating hundreds of opportunities across Ireland and thousands more in the months ahead.
One of the immediate campaigns is the recruitment of 466 Census Field Supervisors, with applications due to close at 2pm on 22 September 2026. These positions form part of the large temporary workforce required to successfully deliver Ireland’s next national census. (Central Statistics Office)

The recruitment drive will expand substantially later this year. On 23 November 2026, the CSO plans to begin recruiting more than 3,880 Census Field Support Officers, bringing the overall temporary Census 2027 field workforce to more than 4,000 people working at local and regional level throughout the country. These opportunities come alongside the CSO’s wider recruitment activity. The organisation regularly recruits Statisticians and Data Analysts, Household Survey Interviewers and graduates, while specialist vacancies can also arise in areas including IT, marketing, human resources and other corporate functions. Other CSO positions may be recruited through Publicjobs.ie. (Central Statistics Office)
Working with the CSO offers candidates an opportunity to contribute directly to the collection and analysis of information that helps Ireland understand how its population, economy and society are changing. Census information in particular plays an important role in planning public services and understanding communities throughout Ireland. (Central Statistics Office)

For jobseekers, the current campaign represents an opportunity to gain valuable experience working on one of the State’s largest national projects.
