The Opportunity

MyJobs is inviting applications from experienced communications professionals for an External Communications Manager position based in County Cavan.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic and highly capable communications professional to take responsibility for external communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement and reputation management.

The successful candidate will develop and deliver communications that strengthen the organisation’s profile, ensuring clear and consistent messaging across traditional media, digital channels and key stakeholder audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the external communications strategy.

• Manage relationships with journalists, media organisations and external stakeholders.

• Draft press releases, statements, speeches, articles and briefing materials.

• Identify positive media and profile-building opportunities.

• Manage media enquiries and coordinate organisational responses.

• Develop content for websites, social media and digital channels.

• Support senior management with communications advice and messaging.

• Coordinate communications around announcements, events and major initiatives.

• Monitor media coverage and emerging issues.

• Support crisis and reputation-management communications.

• Ensure consistent messaging across all external communications.

• Measure communications activity and report on impact and engagement.

Candidate Specification

Candidates should ideally have:

• Significant experience in communications, public relations, media or corporate affairs.

• Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills.

• Strong media and stakeholder-management experience.

• A good understanding of digital and social communications.

• Strong judgement and the ability to manage sensitive communications.

• Excellent organisational and project-management abilities.

Experience within a corporate, public-sector, agency or large organisational environment would be advantageous.

This is a full-time position based in County Cavan, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to lead and shape a significant external communications programme.
