Opportunity Overview

MyJobs is seeking four experienced HGV Drivers for opportunities based in Christchurch, New Zealand.

These positions offer an excellent opportunity for professional heavy-vehicle drivers to join an established transport operation servicing Christchurch, the wider Canterbury region and, where required, other locations across New Zealand.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe, efficient and timely transportation of goods while maintaining the highest standards of road safety, vehicle care and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy goods vehicles safely and professionally.
• Complete scheduled collections and deliveries.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety and condition checks.
• Ensure loads are appropriately secured and transported.
• Maintain accurate delivery, vehicle and driving records.
• Comply with New Zealand work-time, rest and logbook requirements.
• Report vehicle defects or operational issues promptly.
• Maintain professional standards when dealing with customers and depot teams.

Candidate Specification

Applicants should have previous professional HGV/heavy-vehicle driving experience and an excellent approach to road safety.

Candidates must hold the appropriate New Zealand heavy vehicle licence for the vehicle being operated. A Class 4 licence is required for heavy rigid vehicles over 18,000 kg GLW, while a Class 5 licence is required for heavy combination vehicles over 25,000 kg GCW.

Applicants should also have:

• A good driving and safety record.
• Knowledge of vehicle inspections and load security.
• Ability to work independently and meet delivery schedules.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Understanding of New Zealand commercial driving regulations.
• Ability to maintain required driver logbooks and comply with statutory work and rest periods. NZTA generally requires a 30-minute break after 5½ hours of work time.
