The Opportunity

MyJobs is currently inviting applications from experienced and highly organised professionals for a Practice Manager position based in Richmond, London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished manager to take responsibility for the effective day-to-day operation of a busy healthcare practice.

The successful candidate will provide strong operational leadership, support clinical and administrative teams and ensure that patients receive a professional, efficient and consistently high standard of service.

The position requires an individual with excellent people-management skills who can combine operational oversight with financial awareness, regulatory compliance and a strong focus on patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

The Practice Manager will have responsibility for a broad range of operational and management functions, including:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the practice.
  • Leading, supporting and developing administrative and support staff.
  • Coordinating staffing levels, rotas, annual leave and operational requirements.
  • Supporting the recruitment, induction and training of team members.
  • Maintaining effective practice policies, procedures and working systems.
  • Monitoring service standards and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Managing patient enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally and effectively.
  • Supporting financial management, budgeting and expenditure control.
  • Overseeing purchasing, suppliers and practice resources.
  • Ensuring accurate and confidential management of patient and practice information.
  • Supporting clinical teams in the efficient delivery of patient services.
  • Maintaining appropriate health and safety procedures.
  • Ensuring the practice operates in accordance with relevant healthcare, employment, data protection and regulatory requirements.
  • Producing management information and operational reports when required.
  • Developing effective relationships with patients, clinicians, employees and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting the introduction of new systems, technology and improved working practices.

Candidate Specification

Candidates should ideally have previous management experience within a healthcare, medical, GP, dental or other professional practice environment.

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership and people-management experience.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience managing teams in a busy service environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A professional and patient-focused approach.
  • Experience dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Good financial and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to manage budgets, suppliers and operational expenditure.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively under pressure.
  • Confidence using modern practice-management and office technology.
  • A good understanding of data protection and confidentiality requirements.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience managing a GP practice or other healthcare setting would be particularly advantageous.

Knowledge of UK primary healthcare systems, regulatory requirements, patient administration systems, HR procedures and healthcare compliance would also be beneficial.

Experience implementing new systems, improving operational processes or managing organisational change would be welcomed.

The Role

This is a full-time position based in Richmond, London, offering an experienced manager the opportunity to play a central role in the successful operation and continued development of a busy healthcare practice.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide visible leadership, build positive relationships across the practice and maintain high standards across both patient services and internal operations.
