The Opportunity

MyJobs is currently inviting applications from experienced Quantity Surveyors for two full-time opportunities in County Wicklow.

These positions represent excellent opportunities for construction professionals who want to develop their careers while working across significant building and development projects.

The successful candidates will play an important role in the commercial and financial management of projects, working closely with project managers, construction teams, subcontractors, suppliers and other professional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The Quantity Surveyors will be responsible for a broad range of commercial and project functions, including:

  • Managing project costs from initial estimates through to final accounts.
  • Preparing detailed cost plans, budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Producing and reviewing bills of quantities and tender documentation.
  • Managing procurement processes for subcontractors, materials and services.
  • Preparing tender enquiries and analysing subcontractor quotations.
  • Negotiating commercial terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Monitoring project expenditure against agreed budgets.
  • Preparing valuations, payment applications and cost reports.
  • Assessing variations and managing change-control procedures.
  • Identifying potential commercial risks and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Managing subcontractor accounts and payments.
  • Maintaining accurate project and contractual documentation.
  • Working closely with site and project management teams to ensure effective cost control.
  • Supporting contract administration and ensuring contractual obligations are understood and maintained.
  • Preparing and agreeing final accounts.
  • Providing regular commercial reports on project performance.

Candidate Specification

Applicants should ideally hold a recognised qualification in:

Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Construction Management or another relevant built-environment discipline.

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Relevant professional experience within the construction sector.
  • Strong knowledge of construction costs, procurement and commercial management.
  • Experience preparing budgets, valuations and cost reports.
  • Good understanding of construction contracts and subcontractor management.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation and commercial skills.
  • Ability to manage several priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
  • High standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong IT skills and experience with relevant quantity surveying and commercial software.

Desirable Experience

Experience across residential, commercial, infrastructure, public-sector or mixed-use construction projects would be advantageous.

Knowledge of Irish construction practices, procurement processes and relevant forms of contract would also be beneficial.
