The Opportunity

MyJobs.ie is inviting applications from three experienced and highly motivated Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialists to join a newly established specialist diabetes unit based in Dublin.

These positions offer an opportunity for qualified nursing professionals to contribute to the development of a modern, patient-centred diabetes service, delivering specialist clinical care, education and ongoing support to individuals living with diabetes.

The successful candidates will work within a multidisciplinary team of endocrinologists, medical consultants, dietitians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of diabetes management.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist nursing care to patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

Undertake comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualised diabetes management plans.

Support insulin therapy, glucose monitoring and diabetes technology, including continuous glucose monitoring systems and insulin pumps.

Deliver structured patient education on diabetes self-management, medication, nutrition and lifestyle.

Monitor treatment outcomes and support the prevention of diabetes-related complications.

Participate in the development of clinical protocols and care pathways for the new unit.

Collaborate with endocrinologists, general practitioners and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should possess:

Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligibility for registration.

A minimum of three years’ relevant post-registration clinical nursing experience.

A recognised postgraduate qualification in diabetes nursing or a related specialist discipline, ideally meeting NMBI Clinical Nurse Specialist requirements.

Demonstrated experience in diabetes management and patient education.

Strong clinical assessment, communication and organisational skills.

Knowledge of modern diabetes treatment technologies and clinical best practices.
