Clinical Nurse Specialist – Palliative Care

The Opportunity

MyJobs is seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care for an opportunity based in Milton Keynes.

The successful candidate will provide specialist palliative and end-of-life nursing care, supporting patients with complex and life-limiting conditions and providing guidance and reassurance to their families and carers.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Nurse Specialist will play an important role in symptom management, care planning and ensuring that patients receive high-quality, dignified and person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist palliative care assessment and ongoing patient support.
• Manage complex symptoms including pain and other distressing symptoms.
• Develop and review individualised palliative and end-of-life care plans.
• Provide specialist advice and emotional support to patients, families and carers.
• Work closely with consultants, GPs, community teams and other healthcare professionals.
• Support advance care planning and patient choice.
• Provide clinical leadership and specialist advice to nursing colleagues.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and clinical reviews.
• Promote evidence-based palliative care practice.
• Contribute to education, audit and service development.

Candidate Specification

Applicants should be Registered Nurses with current UK professional registration and significant post-registration nursing experience.

Candidates should have experience within palliative care, oncology, hospice care, community nursing or another relevant specialist environment.

Excellent communication skills, clinical judgement and the ability to support patients and families through sensitive and difficult circumstances are essential.

Desirable Experience

A relevant postgraduate qualification in palliative care, oncology or advanced nursing practice would be advantageous, along with previous Clinical Nurse Specialist experience.
